Review:
Oh dear, well I started watching this a few years ago but shut it off due to lack of shrews. This time I was more determined to see them attack and by golly I made it through. It's about a Captain and his Mate who stumble across a remote island where scientists have been working on a new breed. Killer Shrews! See with the population booming, they need to find a way to decrease the natural resources being consumed. In other words, I think the idea is that these new shrews will take out some of the population. Now this is a public domain film, so in other words you can find this for free or cheaply most places. Considering this fact it's not too shabby, but it takes a while to get going (it takes about 20 min before the big shrews show up), lots of scientific chatter and the like. It's also filled with several silly stereotypes, the actual shrews are laughable, usually dogs in costumes (also sometimes the shrews are played by puppets). The noises they make are quite ridiculous, almost like snakes or something and they have poison spit! If you like bad films, then you'll probably enjoy this one even though it's at least very short and simple to follow. There are many worse cheesy films from the time but this one is far from great, kinda worth it just to see the silly giant shrews.
