Review:
I remember renting this one for my 11th birthday and although I'm usually not one for the super hero type stuff but this one is a bit different and we all enjoyed it. To be fair I've seen it a couple of times since so we aren't going by my memory of 1991 or something. Anyhow this is more of a comic book style action filled film rather than a horror film per se, but it's full of excitement, fun and it delivers on everything it promises. A scientist is working on a way to develop synthetic skin...only it's not quite perfected yet. His workplace gets blown up and he's horribly burned as a result and he desperately needs his invention to work as his face is destroyed. That's how he becomes Darkman! It's neat to see the results of his different experiments for a new face since most seem to melt after a few minutes, but the hunt for the perfect chemistry is really entertaining. In the mean time with his limitedly functioning faces we get to see him try to get revenge on the thugs who blew up his lab. Sure as far as substance goes it's a little lacking but for a fun action with a horror spin this is a good time. Perhaps this is best for a kid to watch, but I still enjoy the heck out of it even now.
