Review:
Well, even though I've rated this extremely highly, the first half is a bit of a chore to get through. Even though it's a bit boring and talky at first it's extremely visually appealing and akin to a Jodorowsky production, very bizarre and unsettling. There are some extremely disturbing scenes in this one littered throughout but the last half is something else. It's about a Cardinal who is a bit of a womanizer and a prick, but the "head nun" of the church is sexually obsessed with him. Once the Cardinal meets the ideal woman he decides to change his ways and he marries her, but when word of the marriage travels to the "head nun" she goes berserk and well so do the other nuns. You see orgies, depravity, gore...you name it! The nuns become possessed by the devil and they blame the Cardinal even though he's innocent, I won't ruin any more but it's a shocker! Even more shocking this is based on a true story! This is Oliver Reeds best role, and seriously wait it out because this becomes one of the most compelling and amazing films ever once it gets going.
