Review:
Considering I went and saw this in the theatre expecting a clone of "Hostel" I was impressed that it is actually quite different. Not only that but although people seem to hate this I think it was a pretty good effort really. It's about a group of friends on tour in Brazil who happen to have a problem when the bus breaks down. They start wandering around while waiting for the second bus and they find themselves at a really happening party with some natives. Of course they wake up and find that everything has been stolen and that they were drugged and they had missed the second bus so basically they are screwed. From there they meet a friendly villager who offers to help them only of course things aren't exactly as they seem and they end up in a battle for their lives! What elevates this into decent territory is the lovely scenery and the fact that they did manage to build up that feeling of doom and tension and so I actually think this was quite effective. It's actually quite an adventure filled with chases and underwater challenges and stuff and I was thoroughly entertained through and through. Even after seeing it in the theatre we pretty much bought it within months of it coming out because it's definitely something we'd watch again. Ignore all the complainers, if you are looking for a decent and excitingish new horror film then this is something you should explore.
