Review:
This was quite a different take on the whole vampire thing than I'd ever seen before. This one starts out with a vampire luring in children and killing them before the men of the town take revenge and thrust a stake through his heart. His lover (or sister perhaps?) is also beaten but lives and drags herself away. The vampire claims he'll be back to kill their children. A while later this demented looking circus turns up, and seriously they did a great job casting. I wouldn't want to run into that creepy midget or cat/man in the dark! Anyhow the circus entrances everyone with amazing and bizarre feats. The body paint dancer....uh should children be looking at boobs and vagina? The others are acrobats that magically transform into animals and disappear and stuff...of course they are mostly vampires! There is a fair amount of nudity and bloodshed surprisingly since this is a Hammer picture, but definitely an intriguing one. It's definitely a unique film and a lesser known Hammer entry but definitely one to watch...especially if carnies freak you out...this won't help any!

Availability:  On DVD (UK only and OOP)
