Review:
Although this is definitely a cute and funny movie most of the time, there are definite issues with it. Firstly it's nearly two hours long which is too long for something like this, I was figity and bored throughout most of the middle despite nice jokes here and there to break the tedium. Also this is the first movie I've seen Cary Grant in and I hope it's the last. I've heard even he hates how badly he overacted in this and it makes the film barely tolerable when he's on screen, seriously what a drip! The old ladies are pretty darned cute, see they like to have in lonely gentlemen callers and they offer them wine...poisoned with arsenic! Then they have their nephew Teddy (who thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt) bury the bodies in the basement (which he thinks is the Panama Canal, he also thinks he's burying yellow fever victims). Thing is they have another nephew that is in the same business as the old ladies and they compete somewhat. Grant plays the other nephew who although writes books about hating marriage is marrying a young lady. I think it's a decent movie but some of the jokes have lost something over time (or they are too old for me anyhow), and some will really enjoy this but if you are horror seeking this may bore you silly (no blood).
