Review:
I remember reading that this film was on the hitlist for groups of Feminists and what more sort of encouragement did I need? Nothing at all, the title is pretty fancy either way, it's released on Troma but it's not "troma bad" really. It's a '70s film, so be prepared to take in some tacky scenery. Although this is in a way a very bad movie (i.e. plot, the ridiculousness of it all), it's still someone one of my little favorite pet bad films even though I don't rate it higher. It is short on class but high on ass so grab a copy and have a larf. Sardu runs this theatre of the macabre, which consist of horrific "illusions". Notice I used the " because the trick is that he's actually killing different Women every time he puts on a show. He has them kidnapped, then locked up naked and tortured if he so pleases and he feds them leftover entrails from the night's performance. (yeah you can see why the feminists were mad now can't you). Everything is going swell until he gets more ambitious and kidnaps an attractive young dancer who just happens to have a boyfriend. The gore is the reason to tune in. It's entirely tasteless and degrading but that's the point. Watch the infamous drill scene where a "Doctor" drills a hole in a girl's brain and sucks her brain out with a straw. There is also a human dart board, cymbol torture from a midget named Ralphus (Sardu's hilarious assistant) and so much more. The thing is, this film isn't disturbing in any sort of way, it's done humerously and intentionally so I'd imagine. If not....jumbo "oops" on their part. Anyhow, this really does have pizazz galore and it doesn't really drag and it's easy to understand and delivers on all it promises. A great bit of fun for a party or demented get together perhaps!
