Well this is a rare case where I thought that the remake actually outshines the original. That is until I went back to watch the remake again and found it to be disappointing in different ways, so actually I think the original is better now. [Artist15280] and [Artist84952] well there is a relatively fair match, Mitchum was fantastic and even better here as the evil Max Cady. [Artist439078] plays a lawyer with a wife and young daughter who is in danger when a man he was responsible for putting in jail is freed. He comes after Peck's family and does everything to torment him without actually getting in trouble that he possibly can, until things take a turn for the worst. It's a pretty good story but it truly does seem dated and unfortunately I didn't really like the characters that I was supposed to. I wanted bad things to happen to Peck and his family (they were kind of stuck up twits really). Still a classic story, beautifully photographed and interesting it just could have used some improvement.
