Review:
Although this is a predictable movie, there are some nice gore touches courtesy of Mr. Tom Savini plus it's paced at the made-for-tv level although it wasn't so it's easy to watch. We meet a foolishly nosy reporter and her daughter (Jason-Leigh's first appearance) who happens to be deaf and blind from a previous trauma. The reporter begins to wonder if her neighbour is responsible for a string of graphic killings, and even goes so far as to steal the key and break in his place and look for clues (idiot). Of course he figures it out and we get a fun final showdown although we can see it coming from a mile away. There is one great effect with a head in a fishbowl and some pretty decent bloody moments, but for the most part it's a basic easy to follow story and well the resolve is quite a bit cheesy. Still I don't want to ruin it because if you do decide to watch you deserve the surprise yourself. Not bad really but it could have been so much better if they'd tried a little harder in the originality department. I guess I should also mention that if you want to see a very young Jennifer Jason-Leigh's chest that you will want to watch this movie, I found it unnerving because she looks so gosh darned young!
