Review:
Although I saw this as a kid and disliked it, I don't know what was wrong with me because this time I found it to be one of the most entertaining slashers I've ever seen! First of all...the theme song...it's not quite punk, it's not quite rock...it's memorable and you'll hear it four times throughout the film, but it's a custom made New Year's Evil song that simply must be heard! Our story takes place at a New Year's Eve party hosted by a punker named Blaze (who happens to have a grown son she ignores and husband). Anyhow someone calls her during the party and online threatens to kill someone each hour (New Years in different time zones of course). We aren't let down as the killing begins, and we get several creative, bloody and hilarious deaths that are quite a treat. There is even a death involving a bag of weed...I swear! Anyhow, as the celebration draws to a close he goes in on his prey; Blaze of course. It's one of those whodunnit things, yet it's clever and very easy to watch with no confusion. I can't emphasize enough how surprisingly entertaining this little low budget gem is. Do yourself a favor this new year and watch this...one of the best holiday horrors you'll likely ever see!
