Review:
Now if you are unfamiliar with David Cronenberg at all I strongly suggest you start out with this gem. There are so many zombie style films, and most have gigantic similarities but this is an entirely unique spin on the genre. Not only is it highly creative, but it manages to start out as sort of a mystery and winds up with zombie pandemonium! It's artfully done, yet has the body count and great story to make this a cut above. Marilyn Chambers and her boyfriend wind up in a motorcycle accident and Marilyn is quite damaged. Fortunately (kinda) for them they are brought to a plastic surgery clinic which is practically next door. They didn't have the resources to properly fix her so they used some experimental technics which just happened to give her a thirst for blood. She has some sort of sucker which comes out of her arm and infects folks which then become rabid zombie like creatures. Soon the epidemic is all over the place and there are some disgusting and hilarious scenes with that. It's a bit slow in the beginning and how experimental surgery makes a woman grow an arm sucker I'll never know but be damned if it didn't have a little something for everyone. Definitely recommended, it's a shame that this isn't more popular than it is! When you fall for this one, I'd say to go for "Shivers" next as it is relatively close in plot and it's Cronenberg too, but do this one first!
