Review:
I was pretty excited when I found out this was to be released on t.v. because I'd read the book and really taken to it. The thing is with King's t.v. adaptations they are usually decent but they often fall just shy of the mark, this being no exception. I actually really liked the cast chosen here, really almost all-star so although this goes on for a very very long time, I found it easy to feel comfortable with the characters. Especially well-cast is Bill Fagerbakke as Tom (M-O-O-N that spells evil). If you don't know the story, this is about the end of the world coming, and we are watching a large cast of people take sides with good or evil for the final battle. It's interesting to learn about the different characters and how they winded up where they are in the story and it does really make you feel like you get to know everyone. Considering the mass of information they were working with here, everything does fall nicely into place, it does make sense and it is a very interesting movie. It's just not bloody or scary or any of those other things people often look to horror movies for. This is more conceptually horror and a good one at that. I've seen it a couple of times over the years and I still enjoy it so I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who is patient for a good story.
