Review:
Well I did a silly thing and watched the '80s remake first, so I had certain expectations of this film that weren't really met. Well really it's just that this is an entirely different movie and the Thing has different properties this time around. Still this movie is clearly imaginative, and it does take the time to explain everything that it can scientifically which is nice but well less than exciting. What happens is that they watch some sort of object crash into the ice, then they try to melt it out but they catch the ship on fire. They do manage to pull a frozen block with "the Thing" inside. What is rather interesting is the fight between the scientist who wants to try to communicate with and understand "The Thing" and fights for the military to not harm it. On the other hand "The Thing" feeds off of blood and isn't exactly being very nice to the army. It's definitely an interesting little movie, but I really think it could have used more "The Thing" and less the army but it's still a fun little imaginative picture regardless.
