Review:
Based upon The Hands Of Orlac (1924) this has a great story, and it's insanely well acted and interesting. We meet a weirdo scientist who performs miracles often for no fee, but he's well demented. He is also obsessed with theatre star Yvonne and sits and watches every performance. She is married to a famous pianist named Orlac who happens to get in a terrible car accident that ruins his hands. Desperate she takes him to the demented Doctor who replaces his hands with those of a murderous knife thrower. I don't want to give away any of the plot twists and turns, but it's certainly creepy (Lorre gives an insanely effective performance), demented and even comical in places. Definitely a classic that doesn't seem to be mentioned as much as it should be. This is a must see!
