Review:
I'm really glad Tim Burton tackled this story as aside from the short Disney cartoon there hasn't been a good version of the tale of Sleepy Hollow. We meet a young cop named Ichabod Crane who travels to the town of Sleepy Hollow (of course) to investigate some strange murders where the heads have disappeared from the victims. Of course he ends up learning more about how and why these murders are happening and eventually he has to give in to the reality that a ghost is responsible (and no I'm not worried I gave away the killer because you likely already know the basic story). This film is so visually appealing particularly with the gloomy color scheme and lovely sets that although you aren't going to learn a lot of new stuff, you'll get to enjoy the heck out of actually seeing it happen. The characters are really well developed here as well and Ricci and Depp do a fantastic job. This isn't exactly bloody and horrific, but it should suit perfectly for a Halloween flick.
