Review:
Since I was surprised by how good the first Stepfather movie was I didn't hesitate in renting this one. Firstly the biggest shock was Jonathan Brandis (seeing as how he was relatively popular in the teen-stud magazines of my youth) but he did a fine job. Luckily they got the same actor back to play the evil Stepfather here which does make this a worthy watch for anyone who liked the first one, even it if is more of the same. Here we have the same evil killer guy back who has moved in with a new family. This time around it feels a little less tense, and well there aren't really any surprises which kind of ruins the film on some levels. Still though if you like the premise, this is well-made enough to appreciate. This isn't very bloody or challenging either but if you like thrillers this should work well enough. It's too bad they didn't try something a little more cutting than this, but heck you can't win them all!
