Review:
Firstly I love John Waters and I always will so this was a must see for me. It's not as awesome as his earlier stuff but it's a highly entertaining little horror comedy none the less. Okay so it's a bit of a stretch to call this a horror movie at all, but rather a really dark comedy. The cast is superbly entertaining, and the unique Waters' dialog makes this all the more enjoyable. If you are looking for something shocking and well disgusting like some of Waters' earlier stuff then you may not quite appreciate this, but if you are just looking for an easy going comedy than this is a must. We have the Doris Day style Beverly Sutphin who is so obsessed with manners and such that she becomes a killer. It's pretty amusing to watch this "prim" lady beat an old woman to death with chicken for not rewinding tapes but that and many other hilarious things happen in this film. Nicely there is an H.G. Lewis homage (whom I also love) through Beverly's Son's horror fascination (he watches part of "Blood Feast" in the film). Some of my favorite moments involve some prank phone calls though, so very typically Waters'. It's actually funny, not scary but it does have some blood so most should be happy with this, just don't expect to be grossed out or scared is all. Not a must see right away but definitely a fun cure for boredom!
