Review:
This was featured as a "Splatter" movie in the horror shows guide I had as a kid (that I read religiously). I adore the title and have always thought it to be one of the best, plus I do tend to like '70s splatter films so I've been wanting to see this one since I was about 10 years old. As soon as I found out they were putting this on DVD you'd better believe I preordered it from Amazon, and finally it is mine! Only when I looked at the back of the case I realized that the company "Substance" put out the DVD meaning doom. See that company is responsible for my extremely hacked up copy of "Night Hair Child" that is in terrible quality and it boldface lies on the box about the quality of the print and about being uncut. Also I recently bought "Abby/Magdalena" from them and it's not even in viewable prints, seriously shameful. Anyhow I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think this time they edited all the gore out of this movie, that or there never was any (but then why was it in the "splatter" section?). The story is about a perv (who watches porn in the looney bin) who is riled up by impure women (any girl who isn't a virgin really). After watching a porn he attempts to kill a nurse, than kills an orderly in order to escape the looney bin. From there he kills Mama's maid (I should mention when I say kill...we only see the after shot which is orange paint on a victim) and takes off with her daughter Annie (fake Jan from the Brady Variety Series) who is pure. It's actually extremely dull and quite bloodless, much of the time he is playing "Toro" with Annie or they are riding around on a subway train or some other bonding experience. The real bummer (aside from the lack of horror and blood and good story and excitement) is that there was some potential here, completely unrealized but still, the idea is kind of creepy this was just too cheap and lazy to be effective in any way. The music was hilariously bad as well, truly a spectacle, I just can't believe how many nights I read that book wanting to see it and then this is my reward...sigh!
